Google updates its page experience Docs to clarify ranking signals

Core Web Vitals are a ranking signal but not other page experience signals. To make it more clear how Core Web Vitals metrics are used as a ranking signal, Google revised its page experience help content. Google has made it clear that other page experience cues are not taken into account when determining a page's ranking in Google Search.

Google March 2024 Core/Spam Update Early Reversals

We reported on Saturday that the Google March 2024 core update seemed to have touched down on land, and we saw a lot of sites start to report major ranking drops, and the third-party tracking tools noticed big volatility. That all calmed on Sunday through today but we also had reports of reversals.

Approximately on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, Google also released a tonne of manual actions. At the same time, Google also launched the March 2024 spam upgrade, which explains a lot of the simultaneous activity we are seeing in the areas of core, spam, and manual actions.

Google Top Stories More Context Section Is Generated By AI

Google includes a "more context" section beneath some of its top stories in search results. Based on the most popular articles in the carousel, this will provide a summary of the headlines for your keyword search. In the "more context" section of Google, there is a disclaimer stating that "generative AI is experimental."

This is different from the Google top stories for context section, which may or may not be AI-generated.
