Google Tests More News Topics Button

Under the news stories section of the search results, Google is testing a button that would allow users to browse "more news topics." Since I am unable to duplicate this, I believe it to be novel.

Google: We Still Try To Avoid Overlapping Algorithmic Updates

Google's Search Liaison, Danny Sullivan, reiterated that the search engine giant "generally tries to avoid" overlapping algorithmic changes. This comes after Google simultaneously released the core upgrade for March 2024 and the spam update for the same month.

While the spam update should take two weeks to roll out, the core update can take up to four weeks to roll out.

Entity-based competitor analysis: An SEO’s guide

The secret to rising the ranks and maintaining an advantage over rivals is entity competitor analysis. Beyond keyword-centric sites, you may deliberately optimise content for enhanced subject authority and relevance by knowing Google's Knowledge Graph and entity relationships.

Search engines try to mimic human thought processes. While keywords are still crucial, your content will stand out and Google will recognise you as a trustworthy source of information if you can show that you have a sophisticated understanding of the entities and relationships inside your field.

March 2024 Core Update and New Spam Policies

In addition to the March 2024 core upgrade, Google has also released various spam updates, collectively referred to as the March 2024 spam update. These changes are intended to enhance search engine results and reduce the amount of content that appears to be clickbait.

Everything You Need To Know About The Update

The first core update of the year, the March 2024 core update, involves modifications to several systems and is more involved than other core updates. With this upgrade, Google will display more relevant search results without depending on a single signal or system. With this algorithmic update, Google will keep up its efforts to present the most beneficial material on the internet in search results. Google started optimising its ranking systems in 2022 to lessen irrelevant and unoriginal content in search. According to Google representatives, the update and earlier initiatives should result in a 40% decrease in low-quality, unoriginal content in search results.
