Google's John Mueller On Recovering From Core Updates

Google Search Analyst John Mueller responded to a website owner who hired SEO after noticing a decline in traffic to their site in September 2023 but observed no progress. In response, John said that there was probably more than one issue at play and that it might even be the case that the website had a successful run and it was time to move on to something else.

Google Is Now Indexing EPUB Files

Google quietly updated their documentation to note that it is now indexing EPUB files that can now be found in search. Google declared that it is now indexing documents in the .epub format, frequently used to publish books for electronic readers. EPUB books are already visible in Google's search index.

EPUB is an XML-based eBook publishing format based on a standard developed by the International Digital Publishing Forum, which in 2016 was subsequently merged with the World Wide Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The goal of the merger was to bring together electronic book publishing with the Internet so that they would mutually enrich each other.

Report: 14,000+ Google Search Ranking Features Leaked

Mike King and Rand Fishkin may have released one of the largest data breaches regarding Google Search and its internal ranking algorithms outside the Department of Justice. The document, which came from an unidentified source but was independently confirmed by Rand Fishkin, is extremely detailed on the purported operation of Google Search.

More crucially, as I previously discussed here, it appears to go against some of the claims made by various Google Search employees over the previous 20 years.
